About the Online Time Unit Converter
Tool Introduction

This tool supports real-time conversion between 19 common time units from nanoseconds to millennia. Whether programmers calculate program execution time (millisecond ↔ second), project managers estimate schedules (day ↔ week ↔ month), astronomy enthusiasts calculate stellar periods (Julian year ↔ tropical year), or historians compare dynasty spans (century ↔ year), enter a value to get an accurate result immediately.

Metric/standard time units

Nanosecond (ns), microsecond (μs), millisecond (ms), second (s). The second is one of the 7 base units of the International System of Units (SI), defined as the duration of 9192631770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the hyperfine levels of the ground state of the cesium-133 atom. 1 millisecond = 10⁻³ seconds, 1 microsecond = 10⁻⁶ seconds, 1 nanosecond = 10⁻⁹ seconds; commonly used in computer performance and high-frequency electronics.

Common time units

Minute (min), hour (h), day (d), week, month, year. 1 hour = 60 minutes = 3600 seconds, 1 day = 24 hours = 86400 seconds, 1 week = 7 days, 1 year (Julian year) = 365.25 days = 31557600 seconds. The "month" in this tool uses the average month length ≈ 30.436875 days (Julian year/12), suitable for rough estimates.

Long time period units

Decade, century, millennium. Decade = 10 years, century = 100 years, millennium = 1000 years. These units are often used in historical research, geological time division, and long-term planning. For example: the Tang Dynasty (618-907) lasted about 3 centuries; human civilization history is about 5000 years, i.e., 5 millennia.

Astronomical time units

Julian year: precisely defined as 365.25 days = 31557600 seconds, a common standard in astronomy. Tropical year: the time interval between two passages of the Sun through the vernal equinox ≈ 365.24219 days, directly related to calendars and seasons. Sidereal year: the time for Earth to orbit the Sun once relative to the fixed stars ≈ 365.25636 days. Synodic month: the period of lunar phase changes ≈ 29.53059 days, the basis of lunar calendar months.

Privacy and Security

All conversion logic is performed locally in your browser; no values are uploaded to a server. You can use it with confidence, without worrying about data leaks.

Tips

1. After entering any value, all units are automatically converted in real time; 2. Click the circular button in the middle to swap the source and target units with one click; 3. The common conversions section provides typical scenarios for one-click switching; 4. The reference table is grouped by unit type for quick location; 5. Scientific notation such as 1e6 for one million is supported; 6. Note that "month" and "year" both use average values; actual calendar month lengths vary from 28 to 31 days depending on the month.
