About the Online Pressure Unit Converter
Tool Introduction

This tool supports real-time conversion between 20 common pressure units. Pressure (stress) is an important physical quantity in physics and engineering, referring to the force acting perpendicularly on a unit area of an object, with the pascal (Pa) as the base unit in the International System of Units. Whether measuring car tire pressure (psi ↔ kPa), interpreting weather forecast pressure (hPa ↔ mmHg), monitoring industrial pipeline pressure (bar ↔ MPa), or researching vacuum technology (Pa ↔ Torr), enter a value to get an accurate result immediately.

Metric/SI units

Pascal (Pa) is the base unit of pressure in the International System of Units, 1 Pa = 1 N/m². Common derived units include: kilopascal (kPa) = 1000 Pa, megapascal (MPa) = 10⁶ Pa, gigapascal (GPa) = 10⁹ Pa. In addition, bar and millibar are not SI units but are widely used in meteorology and engineering; 1 bar = 100000 Pa, 1 mbar = 100 Pa. Newton per square meter (N/m²) is equivalent to pascal.

Atmospheric pressure and meteorological units

Standard atmosphere (atm): defined as 101325 Pa, the average atmospheric pressure at sea level on Earth. Torr: named after Italian physicist Torricelli, 1 atm = 760 Torr, often used in vacuum technology. Millimeter of mercury (mmHg): defined as the pressure produced by a 1 mm high mercury column at 0°C, 1 mmHg ≈ 133.322 Pa; this unit is commonly used in medicine for measuring blood pressure. Inch of mercury (inHg): commonly used in North American weather forecasts, 1 inHg ≈ 3386.39 Pa.

British/engineering units

Pound-force per square inch (psi): the most commonly used pressure unit in the UK and US, 1 psi ≈ 6894.76 Pa. Standard car tire pressure is about 32 psi, and a household pressure cooker is about 15 psi. Kilopound-force per square inch (ksi): used for high-strength steel, concrete compressive strength, etc., 1 ksi = 1000 psi. Inch of water column (inH2O): commonly used for ventilation systems and gas pipeline pressure, 1 inH2O ≈ 249.09 Pa. Kilogram-force per square centimeter (kgf/cm²): commonly used in early engineering, 1 kgf/cm² ≈ 98066.5 Pa.

Privacy and Security

All conversion logic is performed locally in your browser; no values are uploaded to a server. You can use it with confidence, without worrying about data leaks.

Tips

1. After entering any value, all units are automatically converted in real time; 2. The pressure gauge at the top shows the current pressure's visual position within the 0-1 MPa range in real time; 3. Click the circular button in the middle to swap the source and target units with one click; 4. The common conversions section provides typical scenarios for one-click switching; 5. The "Common pressure reference points" table at the bottom lists typical scenarios from absolute vacuum to deep-sea high pressure for quick comparison.
